The Inclusive Orthodox Church offers
Christian witness across the many faith traditions that attest to the One
Eternal Being, whose Message was brought to us by many inspired spiritual
teachers. At its most essential, to be a Christian is to live that
Message as Jesus proclaimed in the Holy Gospel according to Saint Mark:
The first is, “Hear, O Israel:
the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the Lord your God with all
your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all
your strength.” The second is this, “You shall love your neighbor as
yourself.” There is no other commandment greater than these.
Mark 12:29-31

The one, holy, catholic and apostolic
Church thrives on the diversity of her members. We recognize that
unity is inherent among the children of God, for we have a common Father of
whom Jesus Christ is the Son. Those from east and west, north and
south receive the same Holy Spirit, who enlivens our hearts and renews the
face of the world. The Church is our natural home.
The one, holy, catholic and apostolic
Church, by the nature of its being, is indivisible. Our theology
reflects the truth of the Scriptures, the creed and traditions that she has
provided to the baptized since the first Pentecost. In light of the
challenges of our times — spiritual, social and economic — it is ever more
important for us to recognize that all Christians, whether catholic,
orthodox, protesting or reformed, are sons and daughters of Abraham, along
with Jews and the followers of the Prophet Mohammed, peace be upon him.
We are People of the Book: God’s extended family and it is these with whom
we join and together offer refuge in the name of the One Lord.
The Inclusive Orthodox Church has not
obtained nor is it specifically authorized by any of the patriarchs, nor —
being non-canonical — is the Inclusive Orthodox Church under any papal or
patriarchal authority or special protection. However, we recognize,
respect, honor and pray for all historic, regional and national patriarchal
and metropolitan sees.
Our Christian community is a unique and
particular branch of the Church Universal relative to the larger Roman
Catholic and Eastern Orthodox world of liturgical Christians. The
Inclusive Orthodox Church respects, prays for, and honors as apostolic
equals the great patriarchs of the one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church,
among whom two are historically styled as popes. |
